Redfish, Finally They’re Back!

Tailing Red

My home waters have fished poorly for several weeks now. Man its frustrating. Pretty much all of November has been a bust. And I’m not alone in crying the blues. At the ramp this morning I heard one of the best guides in this area singing the same sad song.

So what’s up? Perhaps its the constant windy conditions, or the rapidly falling temperatures, or both. No idea exactly. But suddenly this morning – for no apparent reason- the redfish tails were back on my flats. Caught a chunky one. Sweet relief!

Hacked!

Well some hacker put malware on my site. Damn. If you visited here in the last two weeks, run a malware scan. Sorry about any confusion it caused. Its a very common, worldwide Trojan called Exploit Blackhole. Any popular virus program will quickly pick it up and block it.

I reloaded the website operating system. Scanned my own computer with two different programs, contacted my provider, and downloaded some additional website security plug-ins. I’m also looking into buying a security program that will protect the site 24/7. Welcome to the web!

Peace

PS: I hired a professional internet security company to clean and protect my site.

A Day on the Water with my Son

My son Ed with a Red

My son Ed came down from Connecticut for some Florida fishing! Nice. So I booked a day with Captain Jamie Allen. We sailed out of Placida under light winds for a fine day on the water.  My friend believe me, Jamie is an excellent guide.  Consider him next time you’re down this way.  www.jamiesoutfishin.com

No, no, I can’t tell you where we were. Stop asking. Somethings are secret. But I can tell you the fish were there ahead of us!

A Week of Wind

Blue-tailed Red

Wow, first a week of wind, and then a slow period. Been awhile since I’ve seen tailing reds. Frustrating. Got out this morning, blowing 15-20 northwest. Man, quite a ride. Managed a red and 3 small snook. Still no tails to cast at. Talking about tails, note the blue tail on this morning’s red. Nice looking fish. As customary, I let him go home.

Does this Tailing Red have a Story to Tell?

A Story to Tell?

I believe this seven pound, tailing red has a story to tell. Sorry, I can’t reveal it quite yet. I want to check on a few facts to see if what he told me is really true.

Still I can tell you that this adventure was wild six-weight fun. Aired out some fly line, this bad boy did. And rest assured when I understand things better, I’ll be sure to get back to you.
